Question: Should junk food be banned?

( Back )

Answer #1:

What's left?

Answer #2:

No. Let people make their own choices. If they want to eat junk food all the time and live an unhealthy lifestyle, let them. People know what's healthy and what's not.

Answer #3:

No junk food should not be banned. Self control should be taught.

Answer #4:

No. Noone is holding a gun to people's heads to eat all this junk food. If you're going to go so far as banning junk food, where will you draw the line? It's not about the availability of junk food--it's available everywhere, yet not everyone is obese--it's the laziness of people and the fact that people today have a tendency to have no self-control.

YOU can ban junk food from your diet and your home, however, you cannot put an order out that it should be completely banned from EVERYONE. To eat junk food is a choice that people make and they are not force fed it.

Answer #5:

No, because eaten in moderation they don't cause that much harm. People deserve a choice

People should be educated from an early age about nutrition, the importance of a balance diet and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Banning food really isn't the answer - besides, several of the items you have listed there are used as ingredients, not as food - and salt is essential, albeit in small quantities

Answer #6:

Ive always been taught anything in moderstion..if you cant ignore advertising and have nothing else in you life but food then you cant be helped in in that case it should be banned, but we are not all obese so i will eat what i want

Answer #7:

There IS a lot of ntriotnal vale in a many of those foods:

Tea
Orange Juice
Eggs
Beans (canned beans are awful bt tasty. Just get off YOUR lazy butt and make them yourself)
Canned veggies are not the best but DO provide nutrients.
Canned friut ALSO provide nutrients.
Potatoes have a lot of magnesium and other vitiamins and such.
Meat and fish good for you again.
Honey Not So Bad.
Popcorn is actually a whole grain and Very good for you.
Peanut butter is okay. WHO sits down and eats a whole jar?
Salt and sugar are needed by the body to function of course to much is not good.

The thing is WE DO HAVE A CHOICE of what and how much to put in our body. I see all the ads and do I run out and by EVERYTHING I see on TV? NO I have a brain and will power.

You need to do more research on your own...or maybe get som ehelp doing it as your individual researching SUCKS.

You are just passing on what you have heard and have not actually looked into it yourself.

Answer #8:

noo..people cant livee without junk..!!

Answer #9:

NO! To be honestly people make their own decisions if they want to buy junk food. This topic really gets me mad. People should eat healthier but it's their choice. Don't blame the food itself for the obesity crisis, it's the people who decide to eat this way. Moderation is OK. Maybe if the prices of healthier food would go down people would make better choices.

Answer #10:

word, salt is really high in fat - and man there are a lot of calories in tea!

how are u alive are u a monster D:

Answer #12:

No. We do have the freedom of choice. You may be brainwashed but most aren't, they just make bad choices. The "brainwashed" excuse is just another cop out to personal responsibility.

Much of what you list is not junk food in its self, its simply "junk" because of how many people prepare it. EX: Eggs only have 70 calories, they are a good source of protein and have many nutrients. But many pair them with bacon, scramble them with lots of cheese, or make things like macaroni salad out with them. Your list is also very repetitive.

For being a "hippie" you sure have a lot of communist views on food.

Answer #13:

KILL JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer #14:

Tea, coffee, eggs, beans, cheese, potatoes, meat and fish, and peanut butter are perfectly healthy foods/beverages if you consume them the right way. The problem is that people add all sorts of crap to them or eat too much of them.
Eggs are actually one of the healthiest foods there are - the yolk contains tons and tons of nutrients. It's enough to support the life of a growing chick, and eggs are a very nutritious food for humans too.
Sugar is found naturally in fruits and some vegetables - do you advocate banning those, too?
Junk food shouldn't be banned. There should be more stricts regulations for junk food advertising, but at the end of the day, it's a free country and people should be able to make their own food choices, even if it will hurt them.
